Criticisim of Two Cycles & Eight Periods AND Xuan Kong Liu Fa (3)

1. Introduction

If we want to make a judgment whether the above principle is true or not, we must confirm the elements and basic of this principle as follows:

  1. The principle of 2 cycles and 8 periods (二元八運) uses Yang Yao (陽爻) (solid line of a trigram or bagua 八卦) represent 9 years while Yin Yao (陰爻) (divided line of a trigram) represent 6 years. But why only the time unit: Year is chosen?
  2. The introduction of calculation by using 2 cycles & 8 periods is tabulated as follows:

There are many schools, just considering the compass school, in the field of Chinese Feng Shui (風水). During 70-80s or even before, Eight Mansions Theory (八宅) and Three Harmony School (三合) had been dominant in the Feng Shui academic. Later on, due to more people knowing the knowledge of Three Yuan (三元) and the publication of a book called“Master Sam's Xuan Kong”or“Chen shi xuan kong xue” (沈氏玄空學), the Flying Star School (飛星派) became a very heat during 90s up to the recent. At that time, most of the Feng Shui master would only choose the technique of Flying Star rather than other theories. That is due to their misunderstanding of Eight Mansions or Three Harmony being not complicated enough or not practical enough than Flying Star. Just after the stream of Flying Star being a super star at the top of academic, another school called Xuan Kong Da Gua (玄空大卦) gave a great surprise to all Feng Shui practitoner. Two circumferences of 64 hexagrams (inner and outer) embedded into Luopan (羅盤、羅經或羅庚) and its using of 384 yao (爻) gave a new horizons to most people who are dedicated in Feng Shui. Now, as I know, there is almost no secret of Xuan Kong Da Gua in the field of Feng Shui around the world. Owing to the development of internet and Feng Shui being a common knowledge of people with high academic level (those got master degree, doctorate or any other professionals), China, Hong Kong and Taiwan would not be the only places developing Feng Shui practitioners and researchers.

Thanks for the internet, another school is becoming famous and attracting more people to use; this is called Xuan Kong Liu Fa (玄空六法). Master Chan Kam, recently, tries his best to fight against this school because it's incomplete logic and numerical standard that shouldn't be appeared in our traditional Feng Shui. This paper is the elaboration of how this school shouldn't be the common knowledge in the world. Master Chan used different aspects to prove how the Xuan Kong Liu Fa and its fundamental theory called 2 cycles and 8 periods (二元八運) being ridiculous.
